Summary
Introduction. The crave for a perfect and smooth body among both women and men made the hair removal technology develop rapidly. The owners of the beauty salons have turned their eyes especially to intense pulsed light (IPL) machines.
Aim. The aim of the paper was to evaluate the efficiency of photoepilation with the use of intense pulsed light.
Materials and methods. The patients were 4 men and 26 women, mostly young people between 18 and 39 years old (63%). Some of them suffered from hormonal abnormalities (20%), 3% of them underwent treatment against it.
Results. In the survey after the treatment 93% of the patients claimed it has reduced the hair on the epilated body part by more than 70%, while 2 men claimed it was between 51 and 70% and the epilated body part was back. All patients found the results as satisfactory or rather satisfactory.
Conclusion. The average number of sessions needed is between 8 and 15. The smallest number of sessions is needed for removing armpits or legs hair and the largest for bikini and face hair (that is mostly the case for hormonal abnormalities among patients) as well as men´s back.

Key words: hirsutism, fotoepilation, IPL, reduction of unnecessary hair
