Summary
Adipose tissue (lac. textus adiposus) in the subcutaneous layer of the skin is a type of connective tissue that stores fatty substances in the body. The body fat content differs depending on the gender, and so in men it is 9-18% of body weight, and in women 14-28%. Currently in highly developed countries is appearing more often the increasing problem of overweight people in the society, which over time can lead to obesity. The development of this disease is determined by various factors such as the genetics or the environment, but the dominant aspect is human lifestyle and diet.
The aim of the article below was to present the causes of obesity and to discuss possible cosmetological procedures aimed at reducing body fat. In addition, the study presents the most important active ingredients of cosmetics available on the market, used in body shaping.
Cosmetology salons offer many treatments to help reduce body fat. The most important of them are cryolipolysis, carboxytherapy, radio waves, needle mesotherapy and endermology. There are many dietary supplements available on the market that support weight reduction, however, they cannot be treated as replacements for a balanced diet, but only as an addition to healthy eating. In order to shape the figure, it is worth using cosmetics with the appropriate composition and concentration of active substances, which will additionally have a positive effect on the condition of the skin. The process of reducing body fat is based on the use of a properly balanced diet and maintaining regular physical activity. Cosmetic treatments support body shaping. The results of the treatments performed are visible in people with local fat accumulation.
