Dry skin is a problem not only cosmetic but also medical, because the cause of dry skin may be environmental factors, aging, dermatological and systemic. Aim. The aim of the study was to determine the incidence of dry skin in the examined population and to assess the knowledge of the clients of the cosmetic surgery on the problem of dry skin. Materials and methods. The study was conducted among 100 clients of the NATURA beauty parlor located in Łomża by the diagnostic survey method. Results. Over half of the respondents (54%) had symptoms of dry skin most often on the face, hands and legs. Only half of the people with dry skin symptoms found that they had a dry complexion, 37.0% - mixed, 5.5% - sensitive, 3.7% - normal, 3.7% - oily skin. Among the substances that should be included in cosmetics for dry skin, the respondents most often chose collagen (38.8%), and the most frequent were NMF (1,8%). Conclusions. Dry skin was found in 27% of the respondents in the study population, while dry skin symptoms had more than half of the customers of the cosmetic surgery, irrespective of their skin type, and the dryness was most often associated with the small amount of fluid being supplied to the body. The knowledge of the respondents regarding the problems, diagnosis and principles of dry skin care was insufficient. Key words: dry skin, beauty parlor |
