The etiopathogenesis of the disease is complex. Among the most important endogenous causes of acne we can distinguish: influence of the hormonal system, increased activity of sebaceous glands, excessive keratosis of the hair follicles, immunostimulatory effect of bacteria of the genus Propionibacterium acnes and participation of genetic factors. Not without significance are exogenous factors such as diet, the influence of the external environment or inadequate skin care. Comprehensive care for seborrhoeic skin includes gentle cleansing and exfoliation, reduction of sebum secretion, inhibition of bacterial growth, alleviation of irritation, as well as maintaining proper, slightly acidic pH. It is important to take care of the proper level of skin hydration. Pharmacological treatment of acne vulgaris is based on the general therapy and local application and should be individual for each patient. Key words: acne vulgaris, skin care, dermocosmetics |
