Choosing cosmetic products consumers are often guided by the information on the packaging. Not all cosmetics for acne skin care are optimal. In addition, some cosmetics dedicated to other skin types have a beneficial effect on acne. Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients and their properties allows for the selection of friendly formulations. Properly selected cosmetics can prevent the development of cosmetic acne. In the case of acne skin attention should be paid to active ingredients soothing symptoms of dermatosis. Natural substances became more and more popular among this group of ingredients. There are usually plant extracts whose composition is very complex and diverse. The compounds contained in the extracts show a synergistic effect, hence their exceptional effectiveness. In anti-acne cosmetics there are sebostatic, bacteriostatic, keratolytic and soothing (anti-inflammatory) substances. It is also important to properly apply cosmetics by following the basic principles of care. The aim is to present the stages of skin care and characterize active ingredients of cosmetics preferably acting on the acne skin, as well as paying attention to undesirable components.
