Summary
Essential oils are natural, complex, multi-component systems. Cosmetology uses both fragrances and biological effects of oils. Essential oils or their components may be active and excipient substances of cosmetic products. As active substances, they are used in perfumery where their fragrance is used. Care cosmetics use a multidirectional interaction of essential oils on the skin. As excipients essential oils are used as skin permeation enhancers of other biological substances, preservatives, parfum anf flavors. The simultaneous influence of the fragrance of the oil and its biological properties is used in the natural therapeutic method - aromatherapy. Because of side effects of essential oils their use is restricted and reagulated by law.
