Summary
Photodermatoses is a group of skin disease having in common the occurrence or severity of symptoms by the influence of radiation emitted by the sun. Phototoxic reactions can be dangerous, carry a risk of severe symptoms and later complications, and are especially dangerous for unaware people who constantly take certain medicines or use different kinds of cosmetics, as well as for the uninformed clients of cosmetic treatments using laser or IPL. On the other hand, the use of modern photodynamic therapy can avoid the complications of treatment compared to obsolete methods. The aim of this work was to present possible phototoxic and photoallergic reactions that both physicians and cosmetologists may encounter especially during the summer and during light treatments. As well, an attempt to present phototherapy as an alternative to the treatment of certain dermatological conditions.
