Summary
Introduction. Aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery are getting more and more popular not only among women but also among men. Both procedures focus on improvement of a patient´s appearance as well as his general frame of mind.
Aim. Analysis of opinions of Eastern Poland residents about aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery.
Material and methods. The research was conducted on the group of 61 people. Authorial questionnaire was the research tool.
Results. The surveyed demonstrated their willingness to undergo aesthetic medicine procedures such as microdermabrasion, mesotherapy and chemical peelings. However, they are not willing to undergo plastic surgeries which is dictated by the fear of negative consequences. Furthermore, most respondents are convinced that appearance improving procedures do not majorly influence the quality of life.
Conclusion. In the age of beauty worship, aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery are helpful in acquiring ideal appearance. Those procedures not only improve outside appearance but they also have positive effect on general self-assessment as well as on the general health condition.
