The careful design of the semisolid base enables to achieve an effective active substances delivery to the skin. The effectiveness of emulsion semisolid formulations is influenced by many factors including: a concentration of the dissolved form of the active substance, an emulsion type, a type and a concentration of emulsifiers used, water and oil phase ratio, a size of internal phase droplets, semisolid base viscosity as well as the presence of cutaneous absorption promoters and base ability to hydrate the stratum corneum.
