Summary
Introduction. A lot of patients considers electrostimulation as an equivalent of exercises. They expect immediate effects, therefore physiotherapists need solid knowledge about these procedures, to inform patients about effects of electrostimulation and prepare proper plan of therapy.
Aim. The aim of this work was examination infulence of Russian current on body composition of young women and find an answer for question: is Russian current able to significantly increase muscle mass, reduce fat tissue and change size of body circuits: waist´s and through iliocristale points and dermal fold of fat.
Materials and methods. There were conducted 9 series of abdomen muscles electrostimulation on group of 20 females aged 20 to 26 years old. Series last 20 minutes and were performed 3 times a week. To stimulate muscles there were used Russian current with following parameters: base frequency 2500 Hz, modulated frequency - 50 Hz, "on" time - 1s, "off" time - 2s. Before and after research there were conducted anthropometric and body composition measurements.
Results. Achieved a significant change in anthropometric parameters: body weight loss, BMI, body circuits: waist and through iliocristale points. There was no substantial change in body composition.
Conclusions. The results of research indicates that Russian simulation can be used in body shaping. Outcome also suggest that there is need to conduct further research on vary groups of people.
