Cracking heels syndrome - podiatric causes and treatment

Summary
The skin of the feet isbuilt differently than other parts of the skin of the body. Its thickness is different, since it is a subject to series of mechanical stimuli, potential irregularities are of a different nature. It is also more susceptible to dryness. This leads to one of the most common foot diseases - fracturing of the cornified epidermis on the heels. This is not only an aesthetic defect, especially in the case of negligence, this phenomenon is accompanied by the pain and sometimes severe infections. Causes of cracking of the epidermis on the heels is a lot. Some of them are cosmetic in nature, others may be the result of severe chronic diseases, such as arteriosclerosis or diabetes. Podiatrist,whose task is to care dysfunctional feet, must be able to differentiate the origin of the symptoms and cooperate with appropriate medical specialist.
