The precious ingredients have been used for years for medicinal purposes. Originally from southern China, now is grown in Asia and Central Africa. Green tea is only to small extent subjected to enzymatic reactions (fermentation), thus keeping many valuable ingredients for the body. In traditional Chinese medicine, green tea has been used to improve blood flow, as the drug detoxifying the body and strengthening the immune system. Green tea in 30 % consists of polyphenolic compounds, the most important role is played by the catechins. They act antioxidant, fighting oxygen and nitrogen free radicals and are active by chelating ions of iron and copper. Flavonoids influence on the condition of blood vessels and stimulate skin microcirculation, which is important in the appearance and condition of the skin. Its main cosmetic activity is anti-oxidant, anti-irritant and swelling reduction. Key words: green tea, flavonoids, antioxdants, microcirculation |
