Hepatitis is an infectious disease causing significant social issues. Infection can occur as a result of exposure to blood of carrier who is often unaware of being infected. Beauty salon is a kind of a treatment room where integrity of the skin can be compromised. Therefore it is necessary to follow the principles and practices which protects both personnel and clients against infection. Therefore it is important to educate those who are interested in beauty treatment. Aim. Analysis of the clients´ knowledge of risk of infection with HBV and HCV viruses in beauty salons. Materials and methods. Knowledge on HBV and HBC infection was checked using questionnaire distributed to 50 randomly chosen female clients of beauty salons. Results. Clients were aware that hepatitis is transmitted through blood. However, only 58% knew that procedures performed in a cosmetology salons can also be a source of the infection. Conclusions. The present study highlights low level of consciousness of HBV and HCV connected with beauty treatment. Although level of clients knowledge on HBV and HBC can be assessed as high, this study reveals a need of development of educational materials for both client and personnel. It is important to educate both clients and personnel on risks related to contact with blood contact and lack of execution of hygienic and sanitary recommendations for beauty salons.
