Assessment of the state of knowledge about cosmetology treatments for acne vulgaris in high school students

Summary
Introduction. Acne vulgaris is a problem for most of the young people. During puberty time, in organism of a young person it comes to hormonal changes, which are responsible for the formation of acne vulgaris exanthema. More than that, the appearance of the skin is also influenced by genetic factors, unsuitable diet, stress and the presence of bacteria. Young people often try to get rid of the exanthema, what often leads to deterioration of the skin appearance and appear of acne scars.
Aim. The aim of the research was to assess the state of knowledge of high school students about cosmetology treatments for skin with acne vulgaris.
Material and methods. The research was conducted in group of 120 people from the High School. The research was performed using a questionnaires of our own design. To rate the clinical state of the skin it was used Global Severity Scale.
Results. Raiting severity of acne vulgaris trials according to the Acne Global Severity Scale showed that most of the respondents had first and second degree of severity exanthema. The vast majority of women than men was familiar with the name of each work procedures described in cosmetology, but it was not synonymous with having knowledge on treatments.
Condusions. Among the respondents the most severe acne was observed within respondents aged 18 years, regardless of gender. Most of the girls surveyed had more knowledge about the types of cosmetics used for acne skin care, than boys. Both the surveyed girls and boys, for the most part, they removed the acne on their own, without using the advice of a dermatologist or cosmetologist services.
