The use of laser ablation and microneedle mesotherapy in the correction of facial scars

Summary
Introduction. Scars can present a serious functional or aesthetic problem. It is no surprising though that new methods which can eradicate or reduce scar visibility are still introducing. One of them is laser therapy and mesotherapy.
Aim. The aim of the paper was to evaluate the results and to compare the effectiveness in treating face scars with usage of ablative laser therapy and microneedle mesotherapy.
Material and method. The questionnaire studies were performed in the group of 60 women in the age between 10-58 years. People were divided into 2 subgroups - 30 persons each. Group I included patients after laser therapy and group II respondents after mesotherapy. The questionnaire included 20 questions.
Results. In both groups the most common cause of scar formation was acne (37% and 40% respectively). Most women from I group and half from II group stated that scar looked better after performed therapy. Most respondents in both groups did not observe complications after procedures.
Conclusion. Ablative laser and microneedle mesotherapy are mainly effective in treating acne scarring. Ablative laser therapy gives better effects in scar correction than microneedle mesotherapy. The percentage of complications after such procedures is small.
