Summary
Cosmetic industry is constantly looking for new substances with high biological activity, especially of plant origin. For several years, plant in vitro cultures have been used in innovative cosmetics and cosmeceutics. The cell culture can be a source of the pure compounds and crude extracts containing components complex having a broad spectrum of activity. Extracts from plant cell cultures are increasingly used as an alternative source of active cosmetic substances due to the belief of consumers about the safe and effective use of cosmetics using substances of plant origin and not obtained by chemical synthesis. Plant cell cultures represent a standardized, free from contamination and ecological system that allows the production of the desired compounds on a commercial scale.
