The selection of education direction as well as the choice of the future job is a matter of consequence for every young man. Nowadays the branding creations affect preferences in choosing faculty. Aim. The aim of the research was to recognize the motivation of Bachelor, Master and post-secondary students concerning the choice of Cosmetology studies depending on the place of living, economic status and parents´ education. Material & methods. The survey, which took place in the academic year 2013/2014, involved 150 Come-tology students from three higher education institutions and one post-secondary school such as Lomza State Univesity od Applied Sciences, Higher Vocational School in Suwalki, School of Medical Science in Bialystok and Beauty Expert post-secondary school in Bialystok. Results. The most frequently indicated motivation was the interest in the profession (81,3%). As for 1/3 of the surveyed with a high percentage Bachelor students, the choice of the profes-sion had the character of prosocial motivation related to the help in creating appearance of other people. Students, whose motivation in choosing Cosmetology studies was their own problems with appearance, belong to the group of insufficient economic status. The students from rural areas see greater opportunities to find a job as a beautician or a cosmetologist in towns. They also see a chance to start their own business, for example, to open a beauty salon. Key words: cosmetology, students, subjects, selection the direction |
