Citrus oils used in cosmetology and aromatherapy

Summary
Growing number of research publications on aromatherapy have greatly expanded our knowledge of essential oils characteristics. These oils are not only valued because of their unique fragrances but are becoming also more and more popular healing solutions. Term aromatherapy originates from Greek word aroma which meaning is "roots, spices, fragrant herbs" and Greek word therapeia, which means "care, treatment. In brief terms it is a therapy using natural essential oils. Every product enriched with essential oils have uncommon fragrance and retains some certain qualities of particularly used oil. Utilization of essential oils as active ingredient in cosmetics is one of the practical methods of aromatherapy. The following article covers the most important issues of extracting essential oils from citrus, their characteristics and applications in everyday skin care or healing treatment.
