Summary
Introduction. Producers and distributors of cosmetics intended for professional mature skin care recommend their product usage according to manual and appliance methods specified and ordered in cosmetic treatment outlines. However, cosmetologist performing cosmetic procedure is required to design it to achieve the best final effect.
Aim. The aim of the paper was an analysis of company outlines offered with professional cosmetic products recommended for mature skin treatment. We analyzed the sequence of given cosmetic activities for achieving the best final effects to find irregularities appearing most often in these schemes.
Material and methods. The study was made on the basis of analysis of brand procedural outlines currently present on the Polish market. We examined 31 cosmetic brands, recommending 115 treatments using a developed questionnaire.
Results. The analysis showed certain irregularities: a. toning the skin after peeling (49%), b. application of hydrophilic active substances and their sonophoretic transport into the skin following the massage made using cosmetic products containing ingredients occlusive lipophilic (6%), c. lack of recommendation for skin exfoliation performed prior to the introduction of active substances (2%), d. application of a mask with sorptive component just after physically supported introduction of the active substances into the skin (2%), e. lack of recommendation for the application of protective preparations after the treatment (3%).
Conclusions. The order of cosmetics action indicated in brand professional outlines recommended for mature skin treatments does not lead to the best result achievements. Producers of professional cosmetics applied for cosmetic treatments should cooperate with cosmetologists or beauticians.
