What are the evolutionary bases of the fact that precisely women take a keen interest in this type of treatments? Why women do are subjected to an increasing pressure to maintain a young and attractive appearance? The main aim of this study was to justify the creation and perception of selected components of a woman´s face to be attractive, despite changing canons of the beauty and cultural differences. The face is the most important in assesing person´s attractiveness, due to the fact that it is the only naked body part and therefore it has the greatest contribution to the evaluation of the entire body. Hair, skin condition and symmetry of the face are the main constituents which determine particular woman as attractive and consequently they provide information about her health, age and medical history. Woman´s face attractiveness rating differs at the level of the population for which attractive face expresses the average characteristics of specific group. In order to improve a communication between cosmetologist, esthetic medicine doctor and the patient, biological basis of perception of beauty and its interpretation should be considerated.
