Summary
Introduction. Skin condition before, during and after application of preparations or beauty treatments is important both for patients and cosmetic manufacturers as well as owners of beauty salons. Determining the skin condition, its needs and selecting suitable products and beauty treatments is the key to healthy, good-looking skin.
Aim. The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of some botanical fluids applied to the skin of selected customers of a beauty salon, with the use of professional skin diagnostic equipment.
Material and methods. Two fluids, Phyto Corrective and Phyto+, produced by SkinCeuticals, were used in the study. The patients´ skin condition was monitored with the use of the Global Skin Analyzer 90.3 device.
Results. In the case of the Phyto Corrective fluid, changes in skin hydration, oiliness and pH were evaluated. Three areas of facial skin, i.e. forehead, cheek and chin, were subject to measurements. The zero measurement was made on previously cleansed skin devoid of make-up or cosmetic product residues; the first one was made immediately after application of the fluid, the next ones - after a week and four weeks of applying the preparation on skin once a day. During the study with the use of the Phyto+ fluid, changes in skin colouration and lightening the appearance of existing discolouration were assessed. The study was conducted on the skin of the whole face. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the Phyto+ fluid took place in the same period of time as in the case of Phyto Corrective. A considerable improvement in the skin parameters was noted in each of the examined patients with skin functioning disorders (moisturising, increased sebum secretion or increased pH). The Phyto+ fluid caused lightening of skin discolouration of various aetiology and equalising the skin tone.
Conclusions. The study conducted on the botanical fluid Phyto Corrective led to a positive evaluation of the effect of the preparation on the general improvement and condition of skin. The best effect of the application of the Phyto+ fluid was observed after four weeks of using the preparation.
