Ludwika Rydygiera w Bydgoszczy Summary Crambe is a not numerous represented genus of Brassicaceae family. A sea-kale (C. maritima (L.) Crantz) is a halophyte and are found in Europe, at Baltic Coast also, but not found in Poland. A sea-kale is considered as edible plant and is consumed like an asparagus. An abyssinian kale is a plant of economic importance, cultivated in many countries. This plant is known as feeding stuff because of high protein amount. An oil from the seeds of abyssinian crambe is used in metallurgic and fuel industry. An abyssinian kale seed oil has a high viscosity index. Contrary to edible oils, abyssinian oil contains high amount of erucic acid. An extract from sea-kale, oil from abyssinian kale seeds and its derivatives have cosmetic purposes. These ingredients are appeared in cosmetic product for skin and hair care as its active constituents or processing aids.
