Summary
Growing interest in natural and organic cosmetic products has brought about development of a number of novel products containing substances of plant, animal or mineral origin obtained by physical, microbiological or enzymatic methods and their introduction on the market. Such cosmetic products usually have a softer, more effective and comprehensive influence on human skin. Natural ingredients are used in cosmetics for skin care as well as in beautifying products.
The paper gives a survey of the most important and popular substances of animal origin that are still used in skin care cosmetic products, despite the recent global animal protection regulations.

Key words: natural cosmetics, care, skin, substances of animal origin, moisturising
