The effects of aromatherapy on the concentration and absorption of knowledge

Summary
High degree of environment pollution and development of civilisation diseases have stimulated the interest in the methods of natural therapy that not only help in quicker recovery but also support keeping good psychological condition with no side effects. Increasing interest in aromatherapy has enriched the knowledge on the effect of ethereal oils on human physiology. Aromas have been found to be effective therapeutic tools assisting treatment and recovery. Depending on the components, ethereal oils can have calming effect, can improve concentration, stimulate learning process, refresh the mind and improve the ability to make associations. Thanks to the above effects, aromatherapy has recently been flourishing especially in Japan, west European countries USA and Canada. For a few years it has been also popular in Poland.
The paper presents a survey of the most important problems related to aromatherapy, characterisation of the most often used ethereal oils and their effect on the ability to concentrate and absorption of knowledge.
