Analysis of faces´ proportions is essential for the accurate assessment and aesthetic surgery procedures planning. Aim. Analyze faces´ proportions in women and evaluate their influence on faces´ attractiveness assessment. Material and methods. The examined material comprised of the standardized faces´ photographs of 100 women aged 26.8±4.2 years (from 21 to 32 years). Faces´ anthropometric measurements were performed and proportion and asymmetry indices were calculated. On the basis of panel assessment (5 women and 5 men) the analyzed faces were divided into 3 groups: attractive, average, unattractive. Results. Attractive faces significantly differed from the average in four indices: lips index, mandible-face width index, intercanthal width to the biocular width and intercanthal width to the nose width (p<0.05). All of the analyzed asymmetry indices in attractive faces were significantly lower than in unattractive faces (p<0.05). Conclusions. 1.Greater distance between eyes and intercanthals in relation to nose width, higher lip index and face shape influence facial attractiveness in women. 2. Faces evaluated as attractive are characterized by lower asymmetry than average and unattractive faces. Key words: attractiveness, face proportions, women |
