Salicylic acid, which is classified as a beta hydroxy acid - BHA, a widely used both in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. It is obtained from the bark of willow and birch leaves. It has among other strong antibacterial properties, maintaining, and exfoliative antiseborrhoeic. Widely used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals also found zinc oxide. It is a white, insoluble powder. It has a mild antiseptic. Soothing and softening the skin. Aim. The study was carried out rheological studies allow to find possible objective measurements of physical parameters that affect the feelings of the skin. Materials and methods. The study was performed using a rotational rheometer HAAKE RS75, using cone-plate system with a diameter of 60 mm and an angle of 0.5°. Rheological properties were tested at 32°C - temperature corresponding to a typical application on the skin. Results. Flow curves in linear systems and double-logarithmic for lanolin and olive oil. It was shown that increasing the concentration of emulsifier in the studied emulsions is an increase of yield stress, which affects the assessment of the consistency of the preparation. Conclusions. Properly conducted rheological measurements allow for a quick check operational parameters, such as: consistency, ease of rozsmarowywaniu cosmetic products.
