Plastic surgery is wide and composed surgical specialty. Aesthetic surgery is that branch of this speciality which develops in intensive and dynamic way. Recently aesthetic and cosmetic practices are more and more popular, not only among women. Aim. The aim of this paper is to examine the popularity of aesthetic operations among men and to investigate their motivations for performing cosmetic procedures. Material and method. The questionnaire studies were performed in the group of 167 men aged from 18 to 70 years old. The questionnaire consisted of 15 questions, in the first part demographic data were collected, in the second men were asked about their methods of skin caring and their willing of performing surgical operations or cosmetic procedures. Results. Obtained data revealed that most likely men would like to change their abdomen, chest and nose. The main reason why men would like to change their body is the willing of improving appearance and attractiveness. Conclusions. Aesthetic medical procedures are more popular, also among men. Those men who declared the willing of performing surgery most likely would like to undergo liposuction, chest contouring and rhinoplasty. Among men the most common motivation for aesthetic practices are improving of appearance and raising attractiveness. Key words: plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine, cosmetic procedures |
