Summary
Higher and higher requirements of sanitary authorities in many countries as well as consumers concerning microbiological purity of cosmetic products and minimization of high concentrations of added preservatives force a number of producers to create other alternative substances which improve the effectiveness of traditional preservatives. It results in better preservation effects of cosmetic products minimizing the treats connected with skin irritations and allergic reactions. Suitable criteria in the selection of a preservative and creating conditions for the production of cosmetics free from microorganisms are also significant. Microorganisms not only might cause deterioration of the product quality e.g. separation of phases, changes in consistency, fragrance, color but they might be also a high threat to people using the particular product through for instance irritations and skin infections.
