The effect of silicone derivatives with a high degree of ethoxylation on performance properties of shampoosMarian W. Sułek, Małgorzata Zięba Katedra Chemii, Politechnika Radomska Summary This paper presents an attempt to introduce silicone polyethers as modern, ecological raw materials for shampoo formulations. The compositions of shampoos were designed on the basis of literature data and commercial formulations which were modified by replacing conditioning components with polyether-polysiloxanes. The effect of the concentration and type of polyether on selected physicochemical and performance properties of hair shampoos was discussed. It results from our studies that the shampoos containing the compounds tested have comparable or better properties than the shampoos without silicone and the commercial products. Additionally, it has been proved that the compounds can produce a protective film on the hair surface which protects hair against external factors.
