Summary
Aim. The aim of the paper is to analyze results of the performed survey and to get information concerning opinion and comments of women using for skin treatment the cosmetics based on nanotechnology, being now a new domain of science. The survey was made to obtain a comparison of activities of nanocosmetics and conventional cosmetics.
Materials and methods. The survey consisted of 17 questions of one or multiple choice, concerning properties of nanocosmetics. The survey was performed in January 2009 in Częstochowa and environment. It was conducted in high schools, beauty parlors, pharmacies and stores of cosmetics, as well as by asking randomly met persons. In the survey women in the range of 20 to above 50 years old took part; the survey was anonymous.
Results and discussion. The results of performed analysis show that antiwrinkle cosmetics are the most often used by women more than 45 years old and, on the next place, by women 31-45 years old. Among nanocosmetics the most used are creams containing nanocapsules incorporating active substances. According to answers of respondents, nanocosmetics are more efficient than traditional ones. They ensure a better moisturizing and cleansing of skin, improve skin condition and color, decrease small wrinkles and prevent appearance of new ones; moreover they make the skin more firm and fresh. No side-effects occurring during the use of nanocosmetics were reported. The sole negative property of nanocosmetics is their higher price as compared with that of traditional cosmetics.
Conclusions. The results of the survey indicate that nanocosmetics improve the condition of skin more effectively than traditional cosmetics, and their use has a positive influence on the women´s frame of mind.
