It is characterized by fresh lemon fragrance which is due to aliphatic aldehydes: citral, cytronellal, nonanal. Lemon oil is a pharmacopeal raw material included in FPVI. A constituent of aromatherapeutic mixtures (Betamixes and Vapomixes) fulfilling in them a role of the basic or supplementary oil. In cosmetics it is a constituent of products used for the care of vasodilatated and greasy skin, hair care, brightening up and whitening of pigmental spots, making the skin firmer and stronger, and delaying its ageing. In pharmaceutical preparations it improves the taste and smell of medicines. Key words: lemon oil, aromatherapy, cosmetics |
