Elecampane inula (Inula helenium L.) is a medicinal plant known since the dawn of time. The pharmacopeal (Polish Pharmacopoeia IV) raw materials are the plant´s underground organs. The extract made of the root exhibits cholagogic, cholepoietic, antibacterial, diuretic, and expectorant properties. The raw material is a recipe component of commonly used medicinal drugs. In cosmetics the antibacterial, tonicizing, moisturizing, astringent, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties of the root extract are used.
