Summary
The child´s development is not spontaneous. It is subject to individual development laws which consist in a sequence of interrelated processes forming the organism from the moment the zygote is formed till the end of life. The development is conditioned genetically but also largely by environmental impact. The inherited structure of the central nervous system, cognitive activity of the child, as well as upbringing are the conditions of the correct psychomotor development.
Upbringing and appropriate nursing of the infant consist in the correct selection and dosage of developmental stimuli adjusted to the age. In addition, the nursing activities bear an immense developmental importance. Changing diapers, carrying the child, bathing it, taking for a walk, feeding - each of these activities when correctly performed positively affects the child, its health, and thereby mental and physical development.
This article attempts to emphasize the importance of the child´s first year of life, i.e. neonatal and infant periods. How to stimulate correctly its psychophysical development, how important the correct nursing, i.e. hygienic and cosmetic procedures are.
