Mirella Hatlapa

Summary
Lecithins exhibit interesting properties, therefore they are used in the production of cosmetics for the skin and hair care. These are irreplaceable bioactive substances. They are softening, nourishing, and moisturizing. They provide indispensable unsaturated fatty acids, choline, and phosphorus compounds. Lecithin is helpful in treatment of many cutaneous diseases; it is the most widely used amphoteric emulsifier, it is also the basic component of liposomes. In cosmetics, liposomes may have many functions, from smoothening the skin surface and decreasing water evaporation from epidermal layer, to functions of bioactive substances carrier to the horny layer. Cosmetic properties of liposomes are particularly valuable.
