Treatment of acne vulgaris

Summary
Introduction. Acne vulgaris is the most common skin dermatosis. Treatment is a difficult and complex process, the therapy includes pharmacological treatment, appropriate cosmetics, diet or cosmetology procedures.
Aim. The aim of the study is to examine the methods and effectiveness of acne treatment in a group of people suffering from this dermatosis.
Material and method. The questionnaire study was conducted in the group of 75 patients who suffers from acne vulgaris. Respondents were aged from 18 to 55 years of age. The questionnaire included 18 questions.
Results. In the course of acne, more than one type of skin lesions was present in the majority of the subjects. Most patients observed open comedones present mainly on the face. More than half of the respondents used pharmacological treatment of acne (general or local).
Conclusions. The most common location of acne lesions is the face and the most common type of this disease is comedone acne. Acne treatment is multidirectional and supporting cosmetic procedures and appropriate dietary supplements play a large role in it. The most common treatment for acne vulgaris is oral isotretinoin.
