Summary
Quercetin is one of the most popular flavonoids and belongs to the group of flavonols. It occurs naturally in vegetables (onion, broccoli, cabbage, sorrel, lettuce, asparagus), fruit (blueberry, black currant, cherry, strawberry), cereals (oats, buckwheat), plants (horsetail, chamomile, black elderberry, horse chestnut ) and in very large amounts in spices (tarragon, coriander, lovage, turmeric), as well as in red wine, coffee, green tea, beer, cocoa and chocolate. Extensive literature data confirm the health-promoting effect of quercetin. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and antiviral properties, and also supports the treatment of heart disease and obesity. In addition, extracts from flowers, leaves, seeds, seeds, fruits and roots of plants rich in quercetin are used in cosmetics. They can be easily found in cosmetics for skin and hair care, anti-aging cosmetics, sunscreen, anti-acne and anti-psoriasis cosmetics. They are often a component of cosmetic preparations for children.
